CONFERENCE ABSTRACT
Pediatric Insomnia:
recognition and management
Sleep complaints in children
with insomnia may include difficulties
initiating sleep or difficulties maintaining
sleep. In young children, these symptoms are
often the result of inadequate limit settings or
inappropriate sleep associations. Older children
can also have insomnia symptoms associated with
medical, psychiatric or sleep disorders. This
lecture will review the diagnostic criteria of
insomnia in children, the factors that
contribute to insomnia, and the most common
therapeutic options.
