RESUMEN
SIMPOSIO
The assessment of
personality pathology in Brazil: following
the new dimensional approach
The advance of psychometric
analysis, with its strong scientific basis,
is changing both the knowledge and the way
of assessing personality disorders.
Dimensional models of psychopathology
conceptualization and evaluation are
promoting a shift from qualitative to
quantitative approach in clinical practices.
This change requires of scientific and
professional communities an adaption both in
the procedure of assessment and in the
thoughts related to the conceptualization of
psychopathology. The current symposium aims
to present the development of two
measurement models designed to assess the
personality pathology according to the
dimensional approach presented in the fifth
edition of the diagnostic and statistical
manual of mental disorders. We will also
discuss the effect of response bias on the
results of self-report tools and present
some techniques to deal with it. Finally, we
will discuss the support of machine learning
techniques in the investigation of patterns
of interaction between personality traits
and mental health.
